Sponsored by Apotheke in support of Cora Dance’s pay-what-you-can dance programs for Red Hook youth, this 70s-80s-90s throwdown will rock you like it’s 1999! What began as a community-wide spirit lifter after Hurricane Sandy has grown into a booty-shakin' throwdown dance party for the entire community, now revitalized after years of quarantining, testing, masking, and elbow bumping! There are no inhibitions on the dance floor at this prom, with a photo booth by FOBO Studios; live performances by Cora Youth Companies and Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance Professional Company; and throwback 70s, 80s, and 90s hits spun by DJ Robert Lux (featured at Lollapalooza)... and the punch may be spiked with the help of Red Hook's Dry Dock! Join Cora Dance and the Red Hook community to party the night away and to celebrate creating access to dance for ALL! Proceeds raised during the Red Hook Community Prom support the FREE and PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN dance education programs for over 200 students annually in Red Hook, Brooklyn. We are seeking volunteers will for the following areas: Community outreach and advertisement Pre-event set-up Post-event strike Greeting/check-in table Food & drink (assisting the caterer) Raffle ticketing management Bartending Security/crowd control Performance & production assistance (set-up and breakdown of lighting and sound equipment, helping all aspects of performance run efficiently.) TIME COMMITMENT: Flexible, based on availability! We are seeking day-of volunteers for Saturday, June 10th (volunteering in shifts before, during, and/or after the event), as well as load-in volunteers for Friday, June 9th and clean-up volunteers for Sunday, June 11th. There is also an opportunity to promote the Prom at our Prom Pep Rally on Saturday, May 13th. Please note! POSITION TITLE: P/T Visitor Services Attendant at Pioneer Works $20/hr, 24 hours per week POSITION DESCRIPTION: Visitor Services Attendants work to welcome and host the public at Pioneer Works during public hours and during select events & programming. Attendants perform a variety of functions including greeting and checking in guests, soliciting donations, and informing visitors of current and upcoming programs, events and residencies. They also assist with tasks related to the opening and closing of the building such as counting cash, shutting down exhibitions, and setting up/striking the space before and after events. In addition, individuals in this role may have the opportunity to take on more hours for administrative work related to other departmental projects, if there is work available. RESPONSIBILITIES: Gallery Engage with visitors in the space, providing exceptional customer service, answering questions, and sharing information related to Pioneer Works public hours, exhibition content, programs, residencies and upcoming events Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Pioneer Works programming, Membership benefits and events, tour topics and offerings, daily gallery closing procedures, and operational procedures Track daily visitor attendance and collect contact and marketing information Monitor cash donations and manage shift cash count Receive and compile visitor feedback Further knowledge of Pioneer Works content and programing through participation in programs, curational walkthroughs, and crit nights Bookstore Assist with bookstore operations by processing customer purchases and increasing retail sales through suggestive selling techniques Track retail stock and sales of featured works from Pioneer Press through regular inventory Restock products that are sold and maintain a clean and welcoming storefront Events Assist event producers in setting up chairs and other event materials before events Manage attendee check-in via Eventbrite, including comp & guest lists Process door sales via Eventbrite Other Departmental Support Opportunities for additional administrative tasks in support of other departmental projects, as available, to be determined, discussed and agreed upon with the Manager of Visitor Services and other department heads COMPENSATION $20/hour Apply Please send a cover letter and resume via email to: jobs@pioneerworks.org w/ “Visitor Services Attendant_[Applicant Name]” in the subject heading.
