NYCHA is halting residential evictions for as long as the City is under a state of emergency.  

When: Monday, March 16, 2020

 

NYCHA encourages households experiencing a loss of income to access our rent hardship program. You may qualify for a rent reduction if all the following conditions are met: There is at least a 5% reduction to gross income; Current rent is more than 30% of the net household income; and Reduction in income has lasted at least two months. Residents can request a rent reduction by completing an Interim Recertification via the NYCHA Self-Service Portal or by calling their Property Management Office to request a paper form be mailed to your home. If your household experiences a complete loss of income, you may qualify for NYCHA’s Zero Income Policy; please call your property management office to participate in the required eligibility interview.  https://www1.nyc.gov/site/nycha/index.page

Laundry service is coming to Red Hook!

Where: RE:GEN:CY at 22 Commerce Street between Richard and Columbia Street

Our neighbors Clean Rite Center want to do our part to assist our city and communities by providing essential services to those who need it. They know that many communities are underserved for laundry as businesses transition through this time so we are reaching out to help! We are excited to partner with Red Hook Relief, a mutual aid group in Red Hook, to offer this valuable and much-needed service. On Tuesday, May 12th from 2pm-4pm, bring your laundry to RE:GEN:CY, located at 22 Commerce Street between Richards and Columbia Streets. We will wash, dry, and bag up to 40 pounds of your laundry completely free of charge! This offer is available to Red Hook residents ONLY and may be limited so be sure to arrive before 3:30pm. Pick up will be at the same location later in the week. There will be taped lines on the sidewalk six feet apart to ensure that safe distances are maintained. You must wear a mask while waiting, interacting with one another, and with volunteers.

AmeriCorps – Red Hook Community Resilience Corps

The Red Hook Community Resilience Corps is an AmeriCorps National Service Program that seeks to make Red Hook a safer, stronger, and more resilient community. AmeriCorps members are placed in the Housing Resource Center, Youth and Community Programs, and Peacemaking department within the Red Hook Community Justice Center. They are part of our unconventional programs and services offered that engage residents, promote public safety, and build positive police and community relationships. Furthermore, AmeriCorps members conduct community service projects/ events that help beautify the Red Hook community. Applicants must be 17+ years old, U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. For full-time and half-time positions applicants must have at least a high school diploma.
