The Red Hook Community Resilience Corps is an AmeriCorps National Service Program that seeks to make Red Hook a safer, stronger and more resilient community. AmeriCorps members are placed within the Red Hook Community Justice Center. They are part of our unconventional programs and services offered that engage residents, promote public safety and build positive police and community relationships. Furthermore, AmeriCorps members conduct community service projects/events that help beautify the Red Hook community. Applicants must be 17+ years old, U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. The Minimum Time position has a minimum commitment of 3 months. Members receive an educational award of $1,345.70.   Our contact, Gleacy Baptiste, informed us that if folks are already doing service work at RHI, that can count towards their hours for AmeriCorps. This is an easy way to receive the stipend and/or educational benefit!   I think this is a good opportunity for young adult participants, but also staff members. They have two tracks, Full Time and Minimum Time (if you're working full time, I believe you would only be eligible for the Minimum Time option - but you'd still receive the educational award).   If anyone is interested in signing up, please fill out   Any questions about the program can be directed to Gleacy Baptiste:

Hey neighbors, Participatory budget vote week is just under two weeks away! Here's how you can get involved in this most exciting part of the process, where we get to share with our neighbors young and old, regardless of immigration status that you decide, you can vote in this process.   We're looking for volunteers to help table on the weekends first and foremost, from 12PM-3PM at Sunset Park and in Red Hook on March 25, 26 and April 1 and April 2. If you're ready to table at another time or location, just reply to me here! This Thursday, March 16 from 6:30PM-8:00PM, you're invited to build a ballot box with our office, Council Members Hanif and Hudson's offices and Arts and Democracy at Camp Friendship, 339 8th St. Sign up for these or any events at this link:     I am eager to share updates on our finalist projects... I am holding out hope for a couple responses from one last agency , but you can expect to find projects to improve our schools, streets and parks on the ballot this year.
