The Red Hook Hub (a project of Red Hook Initiative) is a public communication system that will allow residents and stakeholders to share and access neighborhood information online and at Hub bulletin board locations. Bulletin Boards will be located at the Brooklyn Public Library Red Hook Branch and The Miccio Community Center. It is managed and moderated by Tevina Willis who can be reached at the email listed below.

THE MISSION

The mission of the Red Hook HUB is to provide a public information system which will connect, inform, and engage residents.

WHAT IT IS

The Hub is a system of physical and digital community bulletin boards designed to serve the diverse constituencies of Red Hook. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the HUB  was developed by a team of local organizations and residents. Special thanks to the Red Hook Coalition, Red Hook Communications Working Group, Red Hook Initiative, Good Shepherd Services and the Brooklyn Public Library Red Hook Branch for their commitment to seeing the HUB through to its fruition. The Hub collects and displays information relevant to community needs, during both crisis and non-crisis conditions. The Hub consists of participatory content, where anyone can post information, as well as official content shared by the Hub coordinator and community partners. The physical structures are strategically placed throughout the community.

HOW IT WORKS

Members of the Red Hook community can post news, events, or other community information online or directly on a Hub bulletin board. The Hub Coordinator filters incoming information to redistribute the most pressing and relevant community news. A group of residents, business owners and those employed in Red Hook, have developed the following mission and guidelines document. For more information regarding the HUB see the guidelines document here: HUB Guidelines
