The 4th Annual Red Hook Prom, presented by Cora Dance and Realty Collective

When: May 7, 2016 7:00-11:00 pm

Where: South Brooklyn Community High School - 173 Conover St.

It's prom just like you remember, only BETTER. NO teen angst, NO crying in the bathroom, and NO inhibition on the dance floor because hey...the punch is spiked! Now in its 4th year, the Red Hook Prom is back and better than ever. This year, the annual dance party and silent auction for grown-ups in support of the pay-what-you-can dance programs of Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance is sponsored by community partner Realty Collective. Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance offers outstanding professional performances and classes year-round in Red Hook and beyond! NO ONE is ever turned away from Cora based on what or if they can pay, and the PROM is no different! Admission is by donation (suggested $100-minimum $5) for a night you will be sure to remember. Tickets are available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2517718 or can be purchased at the door. You choose, dress in ‘80s or ‘90s style and meet us on the dance floor for an epic battle of the decades. Get ready for a killer DJ, photo booth, food, hooch, prizes, an auction, and crowning of the 2016 Red Hook Prom Court... it's a spectacular cheesy-classy ‘80s/’90s throwback you won't want to miss! Participatory Budgeting in Red Hook Needs VOLUNTEERS!

When: Feb 25-Apr 3, 2016

Where: Red Hook

Subject: Join the PBNYC Get Out the Vote Network today!

Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a grassroots process through which community residents vote to directly allocate at least $1 million in capital funding per district toward proposals developed by the community to meet local needs.  Through a series of public meetings, residents work with elected officials throughout the year to identify neighborhood concerns and craft proposals to address them. Residents then decide which proposals to fund through a public vote. PBNYC Vote Week is March 26 to April 3!  Community members have developed proposals and ballots are almost ready to go in 28 council districts in NYC!

We need your help! During PBNYC Vote Week (March 26 to April 3) we need your support and space to Get Out The Vote (GOTV).  Being a part of the GOTV Network would mean you partner with The New York City Council, your local City Council Member, and Participatory Budgeting Project to give your members real power over real money in your community by letting your neighbors and constituencies know where, how, and when to vote!

Join the GOTV Network and host a poll site! Fill out this form to host a polling location in your community and receive promotional materials to spread the word about PBNYC Vote Week.

Recruit Volunteers - Send your electronic mailing list the link to the Volunteer form and plug in your people to the GOTV efforts in your community! Also re-post the Facebook call for volunteers to your social network!

Thank you!
