Danielle Russo Performance Project Premieres ‘Final Notice’

On September 25 & 26, 2021, Danielle Russo Performance Project (DRPP) will premiere Final Notice, a free, outdoor performance series in Red Hook and South Williamsburg celebrating the launch of DRPP’s interactive mobile app of the same name. The culmination of a two-year collaboration with Youth Leaders at Red Hook Initiative and El Puente, the #FinalNotice map app exposes climate change, environmental racism, and historical erasure on the Brooklyn waterfront, with an explicit emphasis on neighborhoods with Superfund and Brownfield sites. DRPP artists and Youth Leaders will present site-specific performances activating the app. Audience members are invited to download the #FinalNotice app before attending the launch event, available September 1 in English and Spanish through Apple and Google Play. On Saturday, September 25, performances by DRPP dancers will begin at the South First Street entrance to Domino Park in South Williamsburg at 4pm. Audiences will be led to various locations along the coastline and surrounding neighborhood, arriving at 5pm for a performance by the Youth Leaders at El Puente as part of their ¡WEPA! Festival. On Sunday, September 26, performances by Red Hook Initiative’s Youth Leaders will begin at 2pm at the RETI Center’s barge at the intersection of the Erie Basin and Gowanus Bay, followed by performances by DRPP dancers traveling north through Red Hook Park. At 3pm, audience members will be led on a short walking tour throughout Red Hook that will arrive at Red Hook Initiative’s Open Streets site at 3:30pm. Cesar Zuniga for City Council looking for Paid Canvassers

Cesar Zuniga is running for City Council in District 38 and is looking for paid canvassers to talk, educate and persuade voters about his candidacy. The election is June 22nd, and we are looking to bring people on ASAP! This is a paid opportunity, with a rate of $20/hr. Canvassers will go through training before starting the program. Political canvass experience is great to put on a resume and helps build upon communication skills, and creates a foundation for potential future involvement in politics, organizing, or fundraising. During the Spring and Fall, Hook Arts Media® offers after-school media production courses on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Students research the topics that most interest and impact them while learning the pre-professional skills necessary to create, produce, and distribute original work. The program is open to anyone between the ages of 14-25. All participants earn an hourly minimum wage. Now Enrolling: Podcasting Students will learn how to create and edit podcasts. This program will be conducted virtually over Zoom. April 20-May 15th, 2021 on Tuesdays Tuesdays from 4-5:30 PM EST and Saturdays from 1-2:30 PM EST. Red Hook Mutual Aid is an independent corps of local volunteers, primarily teachers and librarians who live/work in Red Hook. We're here to help connect community members to resources, information, and supplies in an accessible format. We offer phone support through a call-back system in five languages (English, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, and Russian), and maintain an extensive resource guide, weekly calendars, and a newsletter.
