Notification issued 1/22/16 at 11:52 AM. The National Weather Service has issued the following Coastal Flood products for NYC areas:
Southern Queens, Brooklyn, & Staten Island: Coastal Flood Warning in effect from 6AM – 12PM on 1/23 and again from 5PM until midnight 1/23 for coastal locations adjacent to the south shore of New York City along New York Harbor. Tidal departures are forecast to be three to four feet above normal. Beach erosion and localized flooding may occur.
Bronx, Northern Queens: Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 10AM – 2PM on 1/23. Tidal departures are forecast to be one and a half to two feet Saturday morning and two and a half to three and a half feet Saturday night.Beach erosion and localized flooding may occur.
Manhattan: Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 6Am – 10AM on 1/23. Tidal departures are forecast to be two to three feet Saturday morning and three to four feet Saturday evening.Localized flooding may occur.
A Coastal Flood Warning indicates that flooding is expected or occurring. Beach erosion and localized flooding may occur. During a Coastal Flood Advisory onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
