New York, NY –Members of New York City’s Congressional delegation, City officials, New York healthcare providers, advocacy groups and patients will rally Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. in lower Manhattan to oppose Republican efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The rally comes the same day that House Democrats across the country are coordinating a “National Day of Action” to oppose Republican efforts to “Make America Sick Again.”

Notify NYC – Winter Storm

When: Feb 9, 2017 2:30-

Due to heavy snow that will create slick and hazardous travel conditions, New York City Emergency Management has issued a Hazardous Travel Advisory for tomorrow, 2/9. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for New York City due to heavy snowfall. The warning is in effect from midnight until 6:00 PM on 2/9. The current forecast calls for 6-12" of snow, wind speeds of 10-20 mph with gusts of 35-40 mph, and visibility of one quarter mile or less. The City of New York Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the Department of Sanitation, announced that Alternate Side Parking regulations will be suspended citywide for tomorrow, 2/9. Red Hook Climate Change Public Art Kickoff Meeting

Supporting All of Our Students

Recently Chancellor Carmen Fariña & Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs Commissioner Nisha Agarwal sent home a letter and FAQ document to all public school students to make this commitment clear and to help clarify questions that parents might have during this time. NYCHA’s Family Re-entry Pilot Program.

Where: Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon St.

NYCHA’s Family Re-entry Pilot Program allows individuals recently released from prison or jail the opportunity to live in NYCHA housing.

The Brooklyn Borough Hall President’s Office, in collaboration with the Vera Institute of Justice, will be hosting an Information Session on the program on Wednesday, October 26 from 5-9pm. If an individual would like to live with family in NYCHA housing and they’ve recently been released from jail or prison, this program may be for them!

Some of the program benefits are:
· You’ll be given temporary permission to live with your family.
· Your permanent exclusion will be suspended (if you have one).
· Your family’s rent will not change.
· Upon completion of the program, you can apply to get your permanent exclusion removed and request to be added to the lease!

Join us on October 26 to learn more about the program, meet different Brooklyn-based reentry services who can help individuals apply, and enjoy an interactive play from the Theatre of the Oppressed NYC. Light refreshments will be provided!
