Public Safety Organizer Application Portal Open Until 2/28

We are recruiting for our next Cohort of Public Safety Organizers! Looking for a total group of 20. Organizers are paid 17 an hour, and are expected to be able to work 10-15 hours a week, a combination of both virtual and in person work outings, including a weekly 1.5 hour training at RHI, starting the week of April 11th. To be eligible for the position, you must meet the following criteria: - Be an 18-24 year old who currently or has previously lived in Red Hook. - Be vaccinated (Much of our work requires in person meetings including our weekly training) - Be available to undergo a special CSS that will run from 3/14-3/25 (For applicants who have not undergone YA team CSS yet). The Application Portal will close on Monday February 28th. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until Friday March 11th. Please feel free to refer interested potential applicants to our Public Safety Webpage, for more information about the program and what we do!

Teaching Poetry as a Practice of Freedom with Peggy Robles-Alvarado
Zoom Workshop | Saturday, March 19 | 10 am- 2 pm Eastern

bell hooks wrote that teaching is a sacred act and as instructors “our work is not merely to share information but to share in the intellect and spiritual growth of our students.” Teaching poetry can be an act of mutual healing and liberation. In this professional development training session centered in poetry, participants will engage in holistic approaches to teaching that encompass mind, body, and spirit. Led by award-winning poet and tenured educator, Peggy Robles-Alvarado, participants will engage with pedagogical practices, mentor texts, movement, and composition to promote learning that fosters mutual respect and unbound creativity that empowers both student and instructor.
