POSITION TITLE: P/T Visitor Services Attendant at Pioneer Works $20/hr, 24 hours per week POSITION DESCRIPTION: Visitor Services Attendants work to welcome and host the public at Pioneer Works during public hours and during select events & programming. Attendants perform a variety of functions including greeting and checking in guests, soliciting donations, and informing visitors of current and upcoming programs, events and residencies. They also assist with tasks related to the opening and closing of the building such as counting cash, shutting down exhibitions, and setting up/striking the space before and after events. In addition, individuals in this role may have the opportunity to take on more hours for administrative work related to other departmental projects, if there is work available. RESPONSIBILITIES: Gallery Engage with visitors in the space, providing exceptional customer service, answering questions, and sharing information related to Pioneer Works public hours, exhibition content, programs, residencies and upcoming events Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Pioneer Works programming, Membership benefits and events, tour topics and offerings, daily gallery closing procedures, and operational procedures Track daily visitor attendance and collect contact and marketing information Monitor cash donations and manage shift cash count Receive and compile visitor feedback Further knowledge of Pioneer Works content and programing through participation in programs, curational walkthroughs, and crit nights Bookstore Assist with bookstore operations by processing customer purchases and increasing retail sales through suggestive selling techniques Track retail stock and sales of featured works from Pioneer Press through regular inventory Restock products that are sold and maintain a clean and welcoming storefront Events Assist event producers in setting up chairs and other event materials before events Manage attendee check-in via Eventbrite, including comp & guest lists Process door sales via Eventbrite Other Departmental Support Opportunities for additional administrative tasks in support of other departmental projects, as available, to be determined, discussed and agreed upon with the Manager of Visitor Services and other department heads COMPENSATION $20/hour Apply Please send a cover letter and resume via email to: jobs@pioneerworks.org w/ “Visitor Services Attendant_[Applicant Name]” in the subject heading. NYCHA Recovery and Resilience Red Hook Houses Update

The New York City Housing Authority is building back safer, stronger and smarter by improving structural resiliency and infrastructure protection at Red Hook Houses. NYCHA's Recovery and Resilience Department (R&R) is pushing design boundaries in building reinforcements, storm surge protection, and infrastructure upgrades. Below, please find the latest R&R construction update for Red Hook Houses. To learn more about the R&R program visit https://www1.nyc.gov/site/nycha/about/recovery-resiliency.page Power Plant & Pods Phase Percentage Completion: 49% Project Start: Q4 2019 Anticipated Completion: Q4 2023 Ongoing Activities: • Installation of site lighting posts and conduit throughout the site o The new site lighting will be brighter and more energy efficient • Installation of new windows at first and second-floor apartments adjacent to the new utility pods across the site • Installation of underground conduit throughout the site including, but not limited to: o Water lines by building 2 (101 Centre Mall) o Gas, water, sewer, and storm lines at the East Plant (formerly 590 Clinton) • Pathway closure between buildings 5 (752 Henry) and 6 (62 Mill) for several weeks to facilitate site restoration work in that area o Access from Mill Street to Centre Mall between building 5 and 6 is closed but the management office is still accessible from Mill Street. • Temporary street parking closures at Columbia between Lorraine and West 9th Street to facilitate the installation of underground conduit that will help better protect Red Hook buildings from unplanned utility outages • Continued construction of all utility pods (small buildings) including but not limited to installation of framing, facades, electrical equipment, and roofing • Basement floodproofing work throughout the site to protect flood-prone areas o All basements except for building 6 (62 Mill Street) are expected to be completed by the end of 2023 • [Non-Sandy work activity] Local Law 11 façade inspection and repair is underway at buildings 1, 23, and 24 o Sidewalk sheds have been installed in those areas and will likely remain for several months Upcoming Activities: • Relocation of maintenance and management spaces to facilitate floodproofing work in building basements • Installation of conduits through Columbia Street Other: • The Sandy construction team met with the Red Hook East resident association board, property management, and NYPD to discuss the progress of construction and construction-related issues including pest mitigation and parking • NYCHA’s R&R Department is happy to welcome the newest member of the team, Teroya Huntley (Teroya.Huntley@nycha.nyc.gov) o Teroya will be assisting with community engagement efforts at Red Hook for the duration of the project and will be on site every day at the LiRo office on Columbia – stop by and say hello!

NYCHA’s Recovery and Resilience Department (R&R) is pushing design boundaries in building reinforcements, storm surge protection, and infrastructure upgrades. Below, please find the latest R&R construction update for Red Hook Houses. Power Plant & Pods Phase Percentage Completion: 39% Project Start: Q4 2019 Anticipated Completion: Q4 2023 Ongoing Activities: • Installation of backflow preventer equipment at the new utility pod by building 2E • Continued construction of all utility pods including but not limited to installation of foundation piles, framing, facades, electrical equipment, and roofing • The Sandy contractor and NYCHA’s Pest Control Department are working in tandem to limit the rodent population on site by setting up and servicing additional bait stations, regularly cleaning up debris throughout the site, cleaning basements and closing gaps in those basements • Permanent closure of first and second-floor windows and interior finish work (e.g., plastering and painting) at apartments with windows next to the new utility pods across the site o The closures are necessary to construct the utility pods, which will house critical electrical and mechanical equipment above the flood elevation to better protect building services during a flood event o Approximately 90% of the required window closures have been completed o All residents have been notified via in-person meetings, phone calls, and/or flyers o Additional engagement is underway to residents in pending apartments • [Non-Sandy work activity] Local Law 11 façade inspection and repair is underway at buildings 1, 23, and 24 o Sidewalk sheds have been installed in those areas and will likely remain for several months Upcoming Activities: • Delivery of standby generators to the East Plant on February 24, 2022 o The standby generators will provide all NYCHA Red Hook buildings with backup power during an outage • Installation of new windows at all first-floor apartments where existing windows were removed to facilitate the construction of adjacent utility pods • Removal of dirt piles on Lorraine Street in the coming months
