Come hear photographer Teri Slotkin speak about her work, look through the complete collection of images, check in about some of the people in the photographs, and learn about plans for the project’s future. Will there be another installment of Mixed Doubles–this time, featuring you? Refreshments will be provided by Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie.
Kentler International Drawing Space and the Red Hook branch of the Brooklyn Public Library partnered between December 2017 and February 2018 to present MIXED DOUBLES: Photographs of People in Pairs by Teri Slotkin. Taken from the Red Hook Sessions (1994-1998), the photos feature many still-prominent members of the Red Hook community, including present and former librarians at the Red Hook branch, and explore the dynamic relationships people have with one another.
The Mixed Doubles series is part of the Red Hook Archives, a collection of maps, photographs and printed materials documenting Red Hook’s rich history and diverse population. The Archives are a component of the Kentler Flatfiles collection. Flatfiles contents are open to the public by appointment and are available for viewing on Kentler’s website: www.kentlergallery.org .
