Hook Arts Media Seeks Community Engagement Coordinator for 29th Annual Red Hook Fest
Hook Arts Media (HAM) is a dynamic community-based cultural organization located in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
HAM seeks a part-time Community Engagement Coordinator for the 29th annual Red Hook Fest. This is a free outdoor arts festival that will take place June 3rd and 4th, 2022.
The festival kicks off with a Community Cook Out and DJ Dance Party on Friday, June 3rd at PS 15. Mainstage performances, cultural activities will take place 2 pm – 7 pm at Valentino Park and Pier in Red Hook, Brooklyn on Saturday, June 4th. Other non-main stage events on Saturday include activities provided by various community agencies, community resource tables, maritime activities, and other events to be determined. The Festival will include a Community Resource area where various cultural and educational workshops will take place that highlights the resources and services of organizations that serve Red Hook residents.
Responsibilities
The Community Engagement Coordinator will take part in pre-festival planning by attending monthly production meetings with festival staff, handling engagement with local community organizations for tabling, coordinating and supervising a local flyer and poster distribution team, attending important civic meetings to discuss the festival, and using their social networks to promote the event. Additionally, the Coordinator will recruit, train, and supervise Festival volunteers.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate is a Red Hook resident with a strong community network, has strong written and verbal communication skills, can work as part of a team and independently, is highly organized. Previous community organizing experience is a big plus.
Required skills: Google Suite, Microsoft Office, social media.
Position starts Spring 2022
Part-time approximately 2-4 hours per week- March –April; May 4-6 hours per week.
Attend and work festival events June 3rd and 4th, 2022.
Compensation
Pay is $1500-$2000. Commensurate with experience.
