Resident Empowerment Training-Run A Successful Meeting

SATURDAY MAY 19TH 2:30PM - 4:30PM Learn tips and methods on how to facilitate a meeting or a workshop. These workshops provide training for anyone who is: A resident in a community that wants to become more involved in making changes. Someone who works in a community that needs access to better resources. A leader in their community (Tenant Association President, Community Activist, Organizer, etc. ) Looking for employment in grassroots organizing. Shape Up NYC – Cardio Sculpt Group Fitness Class

When: Saturdays at 10:00 am, from May 12, 2018 until December 29, 2018

Where: Red Hook Recreation Center, 155 Bay St., Brooklyn, NY

This class is designed to blast your cardio fitness and work your muscles in every way possible. Through a combination of strength training (with resistance bands) and high intensity cardio, this class will help you strengthen and tone your entire body and increase your cardio fitness levels. Just bring some water and a towel and get ready to have fun!

Part-time Peer Community Mental Health Worker

The Community Health Worker will serve as a counselor and referral specialist for residents and community members through the activation of the Friendship Benches and referrals from partnering programs. Community Health Workers will be trained to provide one-on-one mental health coaching sessions to help resident participants identify alternative approaches to problem solving, accessing social services and identifying signs and symptoms of common mental illnesses like depression, anxiety and substance use.
