Public Safety Organizer Application Portal Open Until 2/28

 

 

We are recruiting for our next Cohort of Public Safety Organizers! Looking for a total group of 20. Organizers are paid 17 an hour, and are expected to be able to work 10-15 hours a week, a combination of both virtual and in person work outings, including a weekly 1.5 hour training at RHI, starting the week of April 11th. To be eligible for the position, you must meet the following criteria: - Be an 18-24 year old who currently or has previously lived in Red Hook. - Be vaccinated (Much of our work requires in person meetings including our weekly training) - Be available to undergo a special CSS that will run from 3/14-3/25 (For applicants who have not undergone YA team CSS yet). The Application Portal will close on Monday February 28th. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until Friday March 11th. Parents can enjoy the festival while kids delight in scavenger hunts, kayaking on the harbor, art classes, and face painting. Now Hiring: Podcast Teaching Artist Hook Arts Media is seeking an experienced audio production educator for an afterschool, community-based program. HAM’s In Transition: Media program provides students with video production skills to give young people the tools to tell their stories as they engage in critical investigations of self and society. Participating students will range from ages 14-25 and will vary in levels of expertise and interest in creating media. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or interest in building community and motivation amongst students. In Spring 2022, HAM will be offering a program focusing on podcasting with youth-centered social justice commentary and storytelling. All sessions will be taught using students’ cell phones as well as some audio equipment and audio programs made available to students to use onsite at Hook Arts Media facility. All sessions will be taught in person on-site at Hook Arts Media’s offices in Red Hook, Brooklyn. HAM has extensive film and audio production equipment and computers available for student use. HAM seeks an instructor with experience in podcasting/audio recording and editing. Experience The ideal candidate will have significant experience (3+ years) facilitating audio production curricula to teens in public school settings or community-based media programs. Strong classroom facilitation skills, a strong commitment to equity and inclusion, a good sense of humor and facility with audio equipment and audio editing programs is mandatory. Experience in multi-disciplinary arts settings including performing arts is preferred. Candidate should have previous experience in teaching podcasting to teens. This position is only open to candidates based in the NYC Metro area. Pay is commensurate with experience and starts at $75/hour. Positions starting March-May 2022: Tues 4 pm-6 pm, Sat 1 pm-4 pm. HAM currently runs year-round arts education programs at high needs public high schools as well onsite and offsite after-school and community programs for ages 12-24, serving upwards of 700 students annually. In addition, HAM produces the annual Red Hook Fest each June – a free outdoor performing arts festival that features world-class artists as well performances by over 100 local youth – and pop-up performances in support of community initiatives. HAM is seeking an Office Manager/Administrative Assistant to join our team. The position is part-time and based in HAM’s Red Hook offices. This is a 21-hour a week position with some options for remote work. The Office Manager/Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Executive Director and Hook Arts core staff, and will play a large role in maintaining office operations and providing support to the Executive Director. As a lead member of the staff, the Office Manager/Administrative Assistant will ensure the office operations all run smoothly. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Hook Arts Media Seeks Community Engagement Coordinator for 29th Annual Red Hook Fest Hook Arts Media (HAM) is a dynamic community-based cultural organization located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. HAM seeks a part-time Community Engagement Coordinator for the 29th annual Red Hook Fest. This is a free outdoor arts festival that will take place June 3rd and 4th, 2022. The festival kicks off with a Community Cook Out and DJ Dance Party on Friday, June 3rd at PS 15. Mainstage performances, cultural activities will take place 2 pm – 7 pm at Valentino Park and Pier in Red Hook, Brooklyn on Saturday, June 4th. Other non-main stage events on Saturday include activities provided by various community agencies, community resource tables, maritime activities, and other events to be determined. The Festival will include a Community Resource area where various cultural and educational workshops will take place that highlights the resources and services of organizations that serve Red Hook residents. Responsibilities The Community Engagement Coordinator will take part in pre-festival planning by attending monthly production meetings with festival staff, handling engagement with local community organizations for tabling, coordinating and supervising a local flyer and poster distribution team, attending important civic meetings to discuss the festival, and using their social networks to promote the event. Additionally, the Coordinator will recruit, train, and supervise Festival volunteers. Qualifications Ideal candidate is a Red Hook resident with a strong community network, has strong written and verbal communication skills, can work as part of a team and independently, is highly organized. Previous community organizing experience is a big plus. Required skills: Google Suite, Microsoft Office, social media.
