Public Safety Organizer Application Portal Open Until 2/28

 

 

We are recruiting for our next Cohort of Public Safety Organizers! Looking for a total group of 20. Organizers are paid 17 an hour, and are expected to be able to work 10-15 hours a week, a combination of both virtual and in person work outings, including a weekly 1.5 hour training at RHI, starting the week of April 11th. To be eligible for the position, you must meet the following criteria: - Be an 18-24 year old who currently or has previously lived in Red Hook. - Be vaccinated (Much of our work requires in person meetings including our weekly training) - Be available to undergo a special CSS that will run from 3/14-3/25 (For applicants who have not undergone YA team CSS yet). The Application Portal will close on Monday February 28th. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until Friday March 11th. Please feel free to refer interested potential applicants to our Public Safety Webpage, for more information about the program and what we do!

10th Annual Red Hook Community Prom

After three years of waiting, Cora Dance’s beloved annual retro, high-school-prom-themed, rockin’, 70s-80s-90s dance party returns: RED HOOK COMMUNITY PROM! Saturday, June 11 from 7pm-11pm at South Brooklyn Community High School, 173 Conover Street, Red Hook, Brooklyn 11231. Proceeds go toward the Cora Dance Tuition Assistance Fund to continue providing FREE and PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN programs for students.*

RED HOOK COMMUNITY PROM TURNS 10 THIS YEAR, and we want YOU there to celebrate!

Think back. Wasn’t your high school prom the most magical night of your teenage life? OR, maybe your prom was a nightmare. Your date got drunk, you cried in the bathroom, and that dress you thought was, like, totally awesome? Three other people had the same dress AND better shoes. At RED HOOK COMMUNITY PROM, you choose to relive the magic or rewind time for a total do-over! What began as a community-wide spirit lifter after Hurricane Sandy has grown into a booty-shakin’ throwdown dance party for the entire community, now revitalized after years of quarantining, testing, masking, and elbow bumping! There are no inhibitions on the dance floor at this prom, with a photo booth by FOBO Studios; live performances by Cora Youth Companies and Shannon Hummel/Cora Dance Professional Company; and throwback 70s, 80s, and 90s hits spun by DJ Robert Lux (featured at Lollapalooza). And… the punch may be spiked with the help of Red Hook’s own Dry Dock! Join Cora Dance and the Red Hook community in-person once again to party the night away and to celebrate creating access to dance for ALL at RED HOOK COMMUNITY PROM!

*THIS EVENT SUPPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING CORA DANCE’S IN-STUDIO PROGRAMS. CHILDREN ARE WELCOME, BUT PLEASE NOTE THAT ALCOHOL IS SERVED AT THIS EVENT. WE ID AT THE DOOR! ATTENDEES UNDER AGE 16 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. FESTIVE PROM ATTIRE IS ENCOURAGED BUT NOT REQUIRED.
